365 Days of Music: Day 343

It’s hard to believe this is almost over.  23 more songs until this project closes down.

I’m cheating slightly here today;  this song appears briefly in the background in Empire Records, but as it’s not on the legit soundtrack, it’s alright in my books.  I actually chose to hold it back, because the theme of questioning life and faith befits this current moment in my life, and the general sense of ‘where do I go from here?’ I feel.

I cannot say for certain what the next year will hold, let alone the next week.  None of us truly can.  But there is so much that none of us can speak of with definite certainty.  Like children, we ask questions.  We ask how and why and when.

Seldom do we have answers.

Must have been late afternoon
On our way the sun broke free of the clouds
We count only blue cars
Skip the cracks in the street
And ask many questions like children often do…
We said

“Tell me all your thoughts on God?
Cause I’d really like to meet her
And ask her why we’re who we are?
Tell me all your thoughts on God?
Cause I’m on my way to see her
So tell me am I very far
Am I very far now?”

It’s getting cold
Picked up the pace
How our shoes make hard noises in this place
Our clothes are stained
We pass many cross-eyed people
And ask many questions like children often do
…”
