Damn The Man! Week – The Finale

Anyone who knows the film and its music has been banking on one of two songs closing out this week in celebration of my favourite film of all time.  Each song was a relatively major radio single.  Each one plays at a key point in the film.

But for me, Empire Records was ultimately a film where I could watch things go completely wrong, then come together and be alright in the end.  Which is why I simply have to choose the song where everything is finally, as Lucas says, ‘Perfect.”  Love is sticky, strange business, in more ways than one (yeah, I heard you filthy-minded folk!).

One of the biggest lessons we learn as we mature – or should learn – is that you have to, have to get the truth straight from the source.  Because even a lie tells you all you need to know.  Advice, opinions, books and magazines – it’s all just white noise.
