We gather in a booth, menus in hands, distracted by the yearning for conversation. Laughter, smoothies and copious amounts of bacon eventually line the table as we dive into the feast. For a moment, stress lifts, and there is nothing but the simple joy of a meal.
Breakfast: a little mental yoga for a club of seemingly mismatched yet utterly fun and kind people. A reminder of simpler times, gathered around the table on a Sunday… Our own little club, with our own characters: a holistic doctor, a computer geek, the zany one, the gentle military girl, the metalhead and the bipolar.
I miss John Hughes. There is a movie in here, somewhere.
